Lower electricity prices for households

The price of electricity faced by households was 19.0 per cent lower in the middle of the first quarter of 2009 than three months earlier.

The average price of electric energy for households was 40.5 øre per kilowatt hour (kWh), excluding grid rent and taxes, in the middle of the first quarter of 2009.

The average price of electric energy for the service industry was 38.8 øre per kWh in the middle of the first quarter (week 6), excluding taxes and grid rent. This is 16.2 per cent lower than three months earlier.

For the manufacturing industry except energy-intensive manufacturing and the pulp and paper industry, the average price of electricity was 33.3 øre per kWh. This is 3.1 per cent lower than three months earlier. For energy-intensive manufacturing and the pulp and paper industry, the average price of electric energy was 21.0 øre per kWh excluding taxes and grid rent. This is 6.2 per cent higher than in the middle of the fourth quarter 2008.

The measuring period for the first quarter of 2009 was week 6. The average elspot price for the entire quarter corresponds well with the elspot price in the measuring period.
