Higher electricity prices for households

The price of electric energy for households increased 12.7 per cent the second quarter this year compared to the first quarter. The average price of electric energy for households was 48.5 øre/kWh (NOK) this period, value added tax included. Total price for electric energy and grid rent taxes included increased by 6.2 per cent to 89.5 øre/kWh.

For a household with 20 000 kWh annual consumption, the total price amount to almost NOK 18 000 yearly.

The average price of electric energy for the service industry was 32.4 øre/kWh, exclusive taxes and grid rent. This is 3.9 per cent lower than in the first quarter.

For the manufacturing industry except energy-intensive manufacturing and the pulp and paper industry, the average price of electricity was 25.7 øre/kWh. This is 7.2 per cent lower than in the first quarter. For energy-intensive manufacturing and the pulp and paper industry the average price of electric energy was 12.9 øre/kWh excluding taxes and grid rent.

The measuring period for the second quarter 2006 was week number 19 (8 May - 14 May).
