Electricity prices, Q1 2003

The average price of electric energy for households with variable price -not tied to spot price - was 67.3 øre/kWh. This is exclusive of 9.5 øre/kWh tax on consumption and 24 per cent VAT. This is by far the most common type of contract for households. In this survey 84.7 per cent of the households had this type of contract.

Large differences inelectricity prices

The price of electric energy for households with contracts tied to the spot price, was considerably lower than for those with variable prices - not tied to spot price. In the 1^{s t} quarter this price was on average 37.5 øre/kWh, taxes excluded. The prices were lowest with fixed price contracts, 32.7 øre/kWh for 1-year fixed-price contracts and 30.4 øre/kWh for other fixed price contracts.

Much lower prices for services and manufacturing

The average price for electricity for services was 39.4 øre/kWh, taxes excluded. More than 75 per cent of the services buy electricity based on other types of contracts than variable price - not tied to spot price. The prices of these types of contracts were much lower than the variable price - not tied to spot price.

Manufacturing exclusive energy-intensive manufacturing and pulp and paper industry, paid on average 31.4 øre/kWh. Energy-intensive manufacturing and pulp and paper industry paid on average 11.3 øre/kWh, taxes excluded.
