Juvenile sentence

Juvenile sentence was introduced in July 2014 and can be given by a court as an alternative to unconditional imprisonment to a person under 18 who has committed serious or repeated offences. The court sets a time of implementation, but the exact content of the punishment is decided in a meeting of the Meditation Service. Juvenile sentence is categorised as ‘Other type of sanction’ in the statistics, but in tables with information on sentencing, the time of implementation is shown as days of conditional imprisonment.
