Prisoners, and the information regarding them, are normally grouped by the principal offence – meaning the offence that according to the law will give the most severe sentence. As from the statistics for 2012, more figures grouping the prisoners both by type and group of principal offence have been added to Statbank, and these new figures are more detailed.
