The data protection officer is conversant with Statistics Norway’s activity, what the personal data will be used for, and what methods and processing systems are used. Statistics Norway’s data protection officer endeavours to deal with any questions and problems that arise in an efficient and timely manner.

Since 2018, all public authorities have been required to have their own data protection officer pursuant to Articles 37–39 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Statistics Norway has had its own data protection officer since 2003.
