Telephone

The switchboard and telephones are normally answered before the fifth ring during working hours.

If you do not know who you want to talk to, we will find the right person and transfer you.

If finding the right person takes some time, he/she will call you back; you will not be transferred from one person to the next.

Written enquiries

E-mails to ssb@ssb.no and other Statistics Norway e-mail addresses, and letters are forwarded to the relevant person as quickly as possible.

If you send a personally addressed letter or e-mail to someone in Statistics Norway, it may take longer to obtain a response if he/she is not available.

Where specific deadlines are in place, Statistics Norway will act in accordance with these.

In all other respects, enquiries are answered as quickly as possible, and within statutory deadlines.

Questions on statistics and analyses

Questions can be forwarded to the person responsible for the relevant publication.

Questions that cover a number of topics or statistics should be sent to the Library and information centre: informasjon@ssb.no.

The media contacts also answer questions outside normal working hours.

E-mails and letters are answered in the same variant of the Norwegian language (bokmål or nynorsk) that they are written in.

If you would like a form in a different language variant from the form you have received, use the contact details on the form to e-mail or call the relevant person to request a new form.

Both Norwegian languages (bokmål and nynorsk) are used on ssb.no.

There is also an English version of ssb.no, where all statistics and many research findings and analyses are published in English. The majority of publications in Norwegian include a summary in English, and publications that are only in English all have a summary in Norwegian as from 2010.

Statistics and analyses can be used freely, provided that Statistics Norway is quoted as the source. Read more about copyright.

If you are going to be interviewed

Participation is voluntary in most surveys aimed at individuals. Where participation is compulsory, this will be clearly indicated on the form or accompanying letter, with reference to the relevant legislation.

If you are going to report data

You will be sent a letter from Statistics Norway giving details of what is to be reported, who it is to be reported for, how this will be carried out, and who in Statistics Norway you should contact if you have any questions or require assistance.

Participation is compulsory in most surveys aimed at companies, and this is clearly indicated in the information provided. Details are also given of who to contact in Statistics Norway if you have any questions or require assistance.

In surveys with a duty to report, the deadline will be clearly stipulated. Reminders will be sent where no response has been received by the deadline, and Statistics Norway is entitled to impose a fine on non-respondents.

Questions on the duty to report will be dealt with as quickly as possible. You will receive feedback on the same day or within 48 hours of us receiving the enquiry. Delivery times must be added where appropriate.

Applicants instantly receive automatic confirmation that their application/CV has been registered.

Copy of the public registry is available OEP-portalen (Norwegian only).

Requests for access are normally answered on the same day or the following day, and at the latest within 5 working days of us receiving the enquiry.
