Good grain yields in 2016

The total grain production reached 1 326 000 tonnes in 2016, a decline of 2.3 per cent from the year before.

The total grain harvest consisted of 309 000 tonnes of wheat, 635 000 tonnes of barley and 359 000 tonnes of oats.
The average decare yields of barley and oats were 461 and 471 kg respectively in 2016. The average decare yield of wheat was calculated to 463 kg.
The area of barley increased by 142 700 decares to a total of 1.38 million decares in 2016, and the area of oats by 129 100 decares to 761 700 decares. The area of wheat decreased by 189 900 decares to 667 700.
