Brief summary

Kristine Grimsrud is an economist with a PhD in environmental and resource economics and a Master’s degree in statistics from Washington State University in 2002. She is currently a senior researcher (professor-level) in the Research Department at Statistics Norway, group for Environment, Resources and Innovation Economics.

Her research topics are related to nature, the environment and climate change and includes topics related to preferences for and acceptance of climate and environmental policies and the valuation of ecosystem services. Valuation studies typically national population surveys as well as existing market data. She has 10 years of experience with UN's ecosystem accounts (SEEA EA), including calculation of natural capital, through participation in UN expert meetings on SEEA EA and own research. She has also published papers on energy economics and bioeconomics.

Grimsrud both leads and participates in several research projects funded by the research council of Norway. She has published more than 35 articles in scientific international journals and publishes also regularly in Norwegian journals.

She has been associated with North American universities for 15 years as a student and employee. After completing her PhD and MS at Washington State University in 2002, she was an Assistant Professor (tenure track) at the Department of Food and Agriculture Economics, University of Guelph, Canada (1 year). She then became an Assistant Professor (tenure track) in the Department of Economics, University of New Mexico (UNM), Albuquerque, USA. She became an Associate Professor (tenured) at UNM in 2011. She has 12 years of teaching experience at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD level.
